Anza reports Solana’s consensus handoff completed on October 21. Its roughly 150ms finality figure is a developer claim; further upgrades remain planned.

Anza announced on October 21, 2026 that Alpenglow was live on Solana mainnet-beta, replacing TowerBFT. The release places the handoff at slot 459,653,000 around 14:00 UTC and says the existing ledger continued through the migration. This is the announced completion of the upgrade, rather than its earlier scheduling. Follow network developments in OrangeX.com Projects.

Finality is the reported change

Anza describes roughly 150-millisecond finality, compared with the roughly 12.8-second baseline it cites for most of Solana’s history. Finality means a transaction has reached the consensus point after which it is treated as irreversible. The figure is Anza’s reported performance, not an independent measurement made for this article or a guarantee of end-to-end wallet and application response times.

Anza implemented the protocol in its Agave validator software; independent validator operators adopted and activated it. The company says public testing, security exercises and migration rehearsals preceded mainnet.

Later features are still later

Rotor, which changes block-data distribution, geographically aware leader rotations and the Quantumglow post-quantum research design are planned for later releases without committed dates, according to the announcement. They should not be presented as features already delivered by this handoff. More coverage is available in OrangeX.com News, with verification resources in the OrangeX.com Trust Center.

OrangeX.com Analysis

A completed consensus migration is a concrete network milestone. Its practical value will depend on sustained performance across real traffic, validator participation and application integration. Faster consensus finality does not by itself guarantee faster deposits at every service, higher token prices or freedom from operational risk. Post-launch measurements are the useful next evidence.
