Ethereum’s October 26 Hoodi Glamsterdam Upgrade Is Postponed; New Date Unset
An October 22 update supersedes the old Hoodi activation schedule and its 200M gas-limit increase; mainnet users and ETH holders need no action from this notice.
Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade will not activate on the Hoodi testnet under the previously announced October 26, 2026 UTC schedule. The Ethereum Foundation’s October 22 postponement notice says no replacement date has been set and explicitly supersedes the earlier activation instructions. Follow OrangeX.com Projects.
Both client layers must reflect the delay
The foundation says developers delayed activation to investigate interactions between EIP-8037 and mainnet smart contracts. The change removes the scheduled execution- and consensus-layer activations and the associated increase of Hoodi’s gas limit to 200 million.
Hoodi operators should check both client layers for release notes that explicitly remove the old activation. The earlier release table alone does not establish compatibility with the postponement. This changes a future configuration, not Hoodi’s existing chain history. More coverage is available in OrangeX.com News.
OrangeX.com Analysis
Testing plans that depended on the old schedule need revision. The announcement concerns Hoodi, does not establish a Glamsterdam mainnet date, and requires no action from mainnet users or ETH holders as a result of this update. A delay is not evidence of a mainnet rollback or an asset-price outcome. Verification resources are available in the OrangeX.com Trust Center.
